As its name says, its open university only and it doesn't offer regular degrees. There are too many courses available in this national university in all levels. Who can take admission? (Eligibility)
Marks: To take admission in IGNOU, you should have completed the previous degree. The best thing is IGNOU doesn't ask for any minimum marks for admission. Isn't it easy? Yes, it isn't mandatory to have scored in your previous course. You should have just passed. So if you aren't getting admission due to poor marks anywhere, then IGNOU is waiting to welcome you.
Age: Here is a concern, you should be 18+ to take admission in IGNOU. But one thing is interesting here. Even if you are 80+ you can be student of this university. Yes, it's interesting. There is minimum age restriction but not maximum for admission in IGNOU.
Nationality: We said it earlier too. IGNOU is popular in India and across borders. Indians as well as Internationals can take admission here. But, point to be noted here. What documents are needed to apply for admission? (Documentation)
For online admission in IGNOU you need to submit necessary documents in online form. The documents needed for admission are:
I. Photo: One recent passpost size photo of you should be uploaded in form which will be used for your identity card also.
II. Sign: You are supposed to upload your signature along with other documents. For this, you can sign on a blank paper and scan it in .jpg format to upload.
III. Qualifying Certificate: You have to upload the certificate of previous academic qualification as proof that you are eligible for admission in applying course. Like, if you want to get admission in Bachelor degree then submit certificate of senior secondary or diploma level certificates. For admission in Masters level you need to submit certificates of Bachelor level certificates. Note: If you have completed BPP from IGNOU then also you are eligible for admission in Bachelor level in IGNOU.
IV. Qualifying Marksheet: Same as above, you have to upload previous academic qualification which will be used to verify how much marks you have obtained in previous academic level.
V. Age Proof: Here you have to upload copy of birth certificate. Marksheet of 10th class is also considered as age proof. This is to verify that you are more than 18 years old.
VI. Address Proof: Here you have to upload copy of aadhar card or voter id card as address proof. In form there is no column mentioned for address proof like others. You need to upload it in "other documents" column.
VII. Other documents: If you have other supportive documents then you can upload them in these columns. This can be category certificate (if you are SC/ST/OBC), copy of BPL Certificate (if you are under poverty line), experienced certificate, NOC letter (if you are international resident). If you have no such documents then you can leave it blank.
Where & how to fill the admission form? (Admission Form)
To fill admission form visit admission portal of IGNOU, then register first. After registration sign in to admission form. Then you have to submit your details step by step, then after you should upload documents. After these, don't forget to verify details filled in form by previewing the form before paying fees. After preview once you submitted the form, no details can be changed. At last, you have to submit fees. After payment your form is submitted.

What after submitting form? (Post-submission)
After submitting the form successfully, you will get a confirmation page of form submission with control number & all details you submitted. Save this page or take printout of this for further use if needed. This only confirms that your form has been submit. After this you need to wait calmly to get your admission confirmed.
